World Arthritis Day is observed on October 12. Arthritis is the swelling and tenderness of one or more joints. The main symptoms of this are pain and stiffness in joints and which usually worsen with age. Arthritis is an umbrella term for all Rheumatic diseases. The age-old myth about arthritis is that only older adults get it. Not only that, but people also believe that once a person starts approaching old age, arthritis is inevitable. This is one of the most accepted and widespread myth, but it’s false. World Arthritis Day was established in 1996 by Arthritis and Rheumatism International (ARI) to raise global awareness about all facets of the disorder. Every year, October 12 is celebrated as World Arthritis Day.

Arthritis is the number one cause of disability in the USA. It’s more than a disorder and affects more people than you can imagine. The day focuses on the struggles of arthritis. They try to educate people about the problems and disadvantages of arthritis. The goal of this day is to make people understand that it can happen to anyone. Each year, we try to make people realise that their help can impact someone with arthritis significantly. It adds a lot of limitations to a person’s lifestyle, and that’s something others cant understand.

The World Arthritis Day has been following a theme and campaign since 2017 called, “Don’t Delay, Connect Today” campaign. It encourages people to extend a helping hand and try their best as soon as possible. Before 2017, it didn’t have themes.
