Virat Kohli’s dazzling stats: Fifth Indian and 13th overall to join 10,000-run club

Virat Kohli became the fastest batsman to reach 10000 ODI runs on Wednesday. The Indian captain achieved the milestone in 205 innings surpassing the previous best by Sachin Tendulkar who did it in 259 innings. He also has the highest average (50+) among batsmen with 10,000 runs (beating MS Dhoni). With a sparkling 157 against the West Indies in Vizag, Kohli now has the second highest number of ODI centuries to his name – once again only behind Tendulkar. However, this is not all and a quick look at Kohli’s astonishing numbers in ODIs will leave most fans speechless.

#Virat Kohli’s 10,000 runs are also the fastest in terms of balls by any player, fastest in terms of innings by any player.

#With the feat, Kohli also became the fifth Indian batsman and 13th overall to join the club.

#Apart from Virat Kohli, the other four Indians in the 10,000 ODI runs are Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, MS Dhoni, and Rahul Dravid.

#Virat Kohli’s 10,000 ODI runs in 205 innings puts him

54 innings ahead of Sachin Tendulkar,
59 innings ahead of Sourav Ganguly,
61 innings ahead of Ricky Ponting,
67 innings ahead of Jacques Kallis

#Virat Kohli is the fastest to reach 4000 runs in India. He also has the best average among batsmen who have reached this landmark.

#Virat Kohli’s 157 off 129 balls now puts him in the list of batsmen with most 100s vs WI in ODIs. Kohli has hit six of them eclipsing Herschelle Gibbs, Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers (all of them have 5 each).

#Virat Kohli has taken the fewest innings to 1000 runs in a calendar year- 11.

#This is also the third time Virat Kohli has scored five or more ODI centuries in a calendar year which is most by any player.

#Virat Kohli has also registered most number of runs for an Indian batsman vs West Indies.


#Virat Kohli has also become the fastest captain to reach 8000 international runs.
